German for Ph.D. Candidates, Postdocs and Visiting Academics and for Employees of the JGU
Guest scientist, Ph.D. students, postdocs, and employees of the JGU who want to improve their German are invited to attend one of our courses. These are free of charge and run throughout the semester only (14-weeks teaching period). Participation requirements include proof of status within your department that has to be presented at the beginning of the course.
The A1 and A2 level (CEFR) courses consist of 6 hours per week (2x3 SWS). They take place twice a week in the morning or late afternoon. After successfully passing the final exam, participants receive a graded certificate; those whose stay is brief, but whose attendance has been regular, can obtain a certificate of attendance on request.
The B1 (CEFR) course for visiting academics consits of 2 hours per week and takes place in the morning.

The B2 level (CEFR) courses consist of 6 hours per week (2x3 SWS). They take place in the morning or in the afternoon. These courses are open for regular students and attendence is only possible if there are free places. If attendance has been regular and the final exam successfully taken, a graded certificate will be issued.
The C level (CEFR) courses consist of 2, 4 or 6 hours per week and take place in the morning or in the afternoon. These courses are open for regular students and attendence is only possible if there are free places. If attendance has been regular and the final exam successfully taken, a graded certificate will be issued.
